The Brooklyn Promenade, one of the borough's most visited attractions, is located at the foot of Montague Street. Brooklyn's civic center — home to Brooklyn Borough Hall and an extensive complex of Federal District Court and NY State Court buildings — is one block away.

Transit Figures
The Court Street/Borough Hall subway station, located directly below Montague Street, is one of the busiest in the system. The station serves seven lines — the M, the N/R, the 2/3, and the 4/5. On an average weekday, more than 34,000 people pass through the turnstiles, placing it among the top 5% of the subway's stations by ridership.

Sanitation Information
Montague Street commercial tenants are required to have their waste removed by a licensed carting company. Residential garbage is picked up by the NYC Dept. of Sanitation on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; residential trash bags should be placed at the curb no earlier than 5 p.m. on the preceding day. Residential recycling is picked up on Wednesday only.
Montague Street food-service establishments can get free waste cooking-oil removal through the Doe Fund's Resource Recovery program. Contact Chelsea Mauldin, BID director, at 718-522-3649, for more information.
Installing Awnings & Signs
Montague Street blocks west of Clinton Street are located within the Brooklyn Heights Historic District. Business owners planning on installing new or replacement signs or awnings should file an Application for Work on Designated Properties with the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission. While specific questions should be directed to Landmarks' public information office, at 212-669-7817, the following general conditions apply:
- Awnings should be made of canvas and have open sides.
- Any awning skirt should be loose, able to move in the wind, rather than attached at the sides.
- Lettering should be printed only on the skirt, not on the awning top.
- Signs should be flat and mounted horizontally across the width of the facade.
